Famous redheads picture round: name the ginger celebrity
Somewhere between one and two percent of people have naturally red hair, which makes it rare enough to be a theme and common enough to fill a picture round several times over. This set mixes pop stars, actors and one royal, so every table should get a few, and the arguments about the rest are half the fun.

Scoring
Full name for a point, surname alone for half. Announce it before the clock starts and nobody can complain at the marking table. For the fourth picture, accept the Spice Girls nickname as a full answer: it's the name most people know her by, and arguably the more famous one.
Three minutes is plenty. Faces are either recognised or they aren't, and the two or three the table doesn't know won't come to them with more time.
Facts for the reveal
The first is the one most tables will get, and he's a useful bridge to the second: the two made a joint video for World Mental Health Day in 2019, opening with a running joke about which of them the other had expected to meet.
The third has spent most of his adult life being asked about the role he played from the age of eleven, in all eight films of a certain wizarding franchise. He bought an ice cream van with some of his early earnings, which is the most wholesome fact in this round.
The fourth is the only member of her group whose nickname was literally about her hair. She left the band in 1998 at the height of their fame, a departure that made the front pages for a week.
The fifth played twins in a 1998 remake, acting opposite herself, before the high-school comedy that made her a household name. Both films hold up better than teams expect.
The sixth is a trick: she is a natural blonde who has dyed her hair red for most of her career, after being cast as a redhead early on and finding the roles kept coming. Expect a protest from at least one table.
The seventh is the real thing, and has spoken about being teased for it at school. She was nominated for two Oscars within two years of her film breakthrough.
The eighth fronts a band whose name is hers plus "the Machine". Red hair is the band's visual signature; she has said it was dyed for most of the early years and is now something closer to her natural colour.
Red hair itself comes from variants of a single gene, MC1R, which is why two dark-haired parents can have a red-haired child if both carry a copy. Wikipedia's overview is a good source if a table wants to argue the percentages.
Variations
- Childhood photos. Redheads are easy to spot in old photos, which makes a "before they were famous" twist work particularly well here.
- Fictional redheads. Cartoon and comic characters make a good second set for a family quiz: no licensing-free photos needed, just the character names.
- Mix in fakes. Include two celebrities who are famously not natural redheads and award a bonus point for spotting them.
More picture round formats are in our picture round ideas. The famous monkeys round uses the same themed-faces idea with a very different cast.
