Pub quiz in Prague: where to play
Prague's English-language quiz scene is smaller than London's, but it's busier than most visitors expect: there's a quiz on somewhere almost every night of the week. The nights tend to live in expat-friendly bars, Irish pubs, bookshops and hostels rather than classic Czech hospody, and 100 CZK is close to a standard entry fee across the city.
We only kept a venue if two sources agreed the quiz is still running, and wherever possible that meant the pub's own site or events calendar. A few Prague venues don't advertise their quiz anywhere official, so for those we've leaned on Expats.cz, the city's English-language news site, which lists the quizzes week by week. Where that's the case, the entry says so. Anything we could only find in one place is noted at the bottom rather than written up as fact. Schedules slip, and most of these nights want you to reserve a table, so ring ahead. The list runs Monday to Sunday.
The James Joyce Irish Pub
Staré MěstoPrague's oldest Irish pub, tucked on a quiet street north of Dlouhá, and the questions are on the tougher end of the city's quizzes: history, literature, art and Czech topics alongside the usual pop culture. Book by email or phone, because it fills up. Expats.cz also lists the Monday quiz in its ranking of Prague's Irish pubs.
Philly & Co's Original Cheesesteaks
ŽižkovA cheesesteak joint run by two Chicagoans, with a quiz that leans into European and Czech topics plus formats like backwards songs and emoji puzzles. The crowd skews young and international. The quiz isn't on the restaurant's own site, so this one rests on Expats.cz's weekly listings, which have carried it on consecutive Tuesdays through 2026, and its trivia guide. Worth a phone call before you go.
Manifesto Market Anděl
SmíchovA covered food-market hall rather than a pub, so you can eat properly between rounds and nobody has to fight for a table at the bar. It runs twice a month, so check the venue's event calendar for the next date. The quiz is also listed in Expats.cz's guide to the Prague trivia scene.
The Globe Bookstore & Café
Nové MěstoThe Globe has been running its quiz for 17 years and it's still the best-known English-language night in town, in a calmer bookshop setting than most. Reservations are strongly recommended. There's also Jerry's Movie Quiz, a separate monthly film night on a Tuesday at 7pm, which books out early.
Third Coast Pizza
ŽižkovThe Under the Sauce quiz, a good midweek option if you want a more social night and don't mind a more mixed-language crowd. It appears weekly in Expats.cz's English-friendly events roundup.
The Down Under
VinohradyAn Australian pub in a basement off Vinohradská with pool tables, darts and sports on the screens, so there's something to do before and after. Prizes run down to house-made pies for second and wine for third. Reserve ahead. The pub's own site doesn't list the quiz, so this one comes from Expats.cz's weekly listings, which have had it on Thursdays all year, and its trivia guide. Older listings describe it as fortnightly, so call ahead.
Beckett's Irish Pub
VinohradyA block south of Náměstí Míru on Londýnská, with flags and football memorabilia on brick-red walls. Scoring works on a Formula 1-style points system across a 12-week season, so there's a reason to keep coming back, and nightly prizes are bar vouchers. The quiz is on the pub's own events calendar and in Expats.cz's weekly listings.
Clown and Bard Hostel
ŽižkovA lively, international room rather than a serious trivia room, and it works well if you're new in the city. The Thursday night is also listed on pubquiz.cz.
Sally O'Brien's Irish Pub
LetnáThe one reliable Sunday option here. Questions follow the Trivial Pursuit categories with some Prague-specific ones thrown in, each round has its own soundtrack, and winners get a medal plus scratch-off tickets. The pub posts on Facebook rather than running a website, so our details come from Expats.cz's trivia guide and its feature on the city's quizmasters. Message the pub to reserve.
A few other Prague venues run quizzes we couldn't confirm against a second source, including The Cabin Bar in Vinohrady (twice-monthly Tuesdays), Bohemia Boards and Brews in Palmovka (Sundays, with some themed nights in Czech and Russian) and Nerd Alert in Vršovice (geek and TV trivia once or twice a month). They may well be running, so check their pages if one is near you. If none of these fit, run your own quiz with our free quiz creator, no venue booking required.
